Sculpture: Fianl project- fish tank with submarine shape

Since i want to play about the definition of an object,
that what we at look at is not what we comprehend in common knowledge.
when people look at that submarine shape,
they may believe it's a model of submarine, and nothing else.
actually,
a function of an object cannot be seen directly sometime.

painting: nude

a cow fighting with a goat

my friend had a little farm near his house.
a huge cow was playing with the goat.
They were pushing against each other with their heads.
although that goat looked so tiny,
but it had a strong power as the cow.
Therefore, we should never trust the outerlook.
Something powerful or meaningful was always hided inside an object,
such as the goat looks weaker, but it's not.
A person looks like male, but actually she could be a girl.
things not always be the way people look at.

Taiwan night'

i worked as a volunteer in Taiwan Night Market.
i helped making several hundreds of bubbles tea.
When we put a strew into each cup of bubble tea,
it became a colorful view,
rather than just color of milk tea.
a little thing added that could change alot.

painting: self portrait 1/1

the finished project of self portrait.
i painted from grid to grid,
and i found that details were easier to be seen when focusing on one grid.
this is the best self portrait in my life,
i love to see my improvement.

a lock is not to lock

i work at school cafe, so that i use staff lockers all the time.
i discover that even i use a lock to lock the locker,
i can still able open the locker without using a key.
the lock is easy to open when i just push up the door a little bit.

Then, a lock lost its function.
But, it becomes a sign or a warning to other people.
It is a sign that means someone already used that locker,
and it becomes a warning to people to not to open the locker.

the lock lost its physical function,
but it still kept the people away from that locker.
Sometimes, maybe a sign of something is more important than its actual function.

San Francisco: double urinal

a combination of two urinal,
so men can share it,
and get closer in restroom.

San Francisco: melted plastic pipe

That was a mess of plastic pipe.
However, when the middle part was melted.
The darken space became a seat.
A mess became no more a mess,
but something useful.
it's interesting that thing could always transform into another thing.

San Francisco: wood junction

The trunk was cut off into the shape of junction between two bones.
it was interesting to turn a subject into another material.
This trunk contained a characteristic of human's body,
so should it still be a wood or human's part?

San Francisco: Arneson, California Artist

This sculpture is named " California Artist, made by Arneson.
This artwork is a great representative of California statue.
After i took picture with this status,
i have a prove of visiting California.
An artwork can really represent a place,
just like the statue of liberty,
which is presenting New York City.

San Francisco: Haring's scuplture

i finally visited Haring's sculpture,
and i found he had a edition limit of his artwork.
it brings happy feeling to the people who just cross by.

San Francisco: Lombard Street, Russian Hill

San Francisco: surrounding

here was the road connecting to the architecture,
and it surrounded by many trees with mold on.
the mold trees created a sense of mystery garden,
as surrounding environment actually can affect how's an object looks.
therefore, it's important to take care surrounding,
when we display our artworks.
cos an artwork can never be separated from the environment.

San Francisco: disappearing dinosaur skeleton

the dinosaur skeleton was inside the museum.
i looked through the gap between the glass doors,
part of the skeleton disappeared.
probably, this happening related to physical field,
something about reflection and refraction.
thus, the way we see can affect what we r seeing.

San Francisco: natural sculptor

i found this piece in Golden Gate Park.
a mail box was placed on a cut wood,
and the tiny branches were growing out from the big wood.
it seems someone randomly placing a mail box on a wood,
but it looks as an artwork to me.
and it is just placed in a natural environment instead of museum.

San Francisco: rtraffic sign

the first day i visited San Francisco,
i saw a interesting traffic sign,
which showed the complicated directions of roads.
will people able to have enough time before they passing the road?
i was thinking about to learn driving before,
but i seemed to give up this idea after i saw this road sign.
it's just too complicated.

chesscake in cougar

i had a strawberry cheesecake in school's restaurant.
it's really delicious with the fresh-made strawberry jam.
the cheesecake seemed bleeding on its white-snow skin.

sculpture: pre-casting

i designed to make a little tree in aluminum.
i used the plastic spoons to form the leaves,
instead of using clay.
the ready-made materials already have great shape to become shapes of other subjects.
i am excited to see how this little tree grows after spring break,

2-D color study transform into 3D

one of my classmates made this.
he/she transformed a previous homework of color study into 3 dimensions.
he/she empty some squares of colors on the paper,
and painted the shadows of the remain squares on the behind paper.
these two layers formed a 3 dimensional view.
it's such a creative work!

painting: self portrait 0.5/1

the next project for my painting class is self portrait.
besides painting the front side,
i also drew on the backside,
in case someone may steal my painting board again.
when i finished the mark,
the back side became another artwork to me.
so one piece of artwork actually can be double artworks,
present more then one view.

Sponkane conference

i attended a conference in Sponkane on 3/4.
one section talked about the media.
it said the media designed what should tell audience, and what should not.
sometimes media control and hide some facts.
once we feel know well about the world, actually we don't.
i heard something like the popular color in the year actually has been designed by a group of people.
if pink and grey are popular in that year, it's not randomly happen.
many things are actually under control.

one other sections discussed what civility is.
i think that civility was actually come up with a same degree of a majority group of people.
the civility we know may actually not right,
just like the cannibals feel civil when they are eating people, but we don't.

Also, if our behaves are following under the same degree of a majority group of people.
is our culture also come up with that degree from generals?
Or our culture is designed by a special group of people.
if yes so, the special people designed society, and then the society shape individuals?
how we act is actually shaped by some special people?

illuminated snow

I really like to capture the snow under the light.
The illuminated snow become stars in the darkness,
when there was no any star in the sky.
The light bulbs seemed to attract many tiny stars to group together.
i did not realize the snow any more, but just the golden stars,

snow。mold

snow was similar to mold, sticking everywhere and everything.
The snow stuck on the pillar,
seem decaying the metallic outfit.
The snow stuck on the branches,
taking away the place of leaves.
The snow was sticking everywhere besides the close day of achool.

waiting。snow

I was waiting for the bus about 20 minutes in the heavy snow.
my hair became all wet,
and my clothes was going to be fully covered by the snow.
The bus was delayed without noticed.
All i could do was waiting at an uncovered place.
Unlucky that i live in far away,
only E-route and A-route came in the schedule of half hour each.

last time i waited for 40 minutes for the north route to go home.
It was raining.
What if i waited 40 mins in this heavy snow?
Maybe i would be buried in the snow and would become a real snowman.
Why we still have school in this such of weather?

idea of physical activity project

For my physical activity project,
I am going to make a cube, an empty cube.
Actually it will only have perimeters of the cube,
four verticals, perimeters of square on top and bottom.
it will make by woods, like the frame.
It may as big as a head.

Friend's artwork: Brush stroke

These were painted by my friend,
who stayed up with me in the art building the day before the due day.
Although he still needed to work on the contrast a little bit,
I really like his brush stroke on the paintings.
His brush stroke made his artworks look like a painting, not a picture/ photo.
Since now we have camera technology, we can take a picture of anything.
So if we paint like a photo, that painting will no more be valuable and special,
cos we can get the same image easily by the camera.
Therefore, in my opinion, brush stroke makes paintings alive.
He found his own way to paint,
and i am still finding.

Final: project of 4 panels

These are the final products for my painting project.
4 different color sets:
1, complimentary color scheme of the image
2, monochromatic color Scheme
3, Secondary/ Primary color scheme
4, analogous color scheme

Besides follow the color using, i changed the value contrast with my feeling.
I use a higher contrast,
so that a higher focus point on the spot light then to the inner train.
And it's hard to draw four pictures exactly the same...

Grass on head

A funny toy i gave to my friend: Grass on the head.
In Chinese, there is a sentence,
"Big head will have no brain,
Big brain will have grass grow."
It means some people do not use their brains to do lots of thinking,
then their brain has grass grow,
just like the grass grow up on the side of road
where no one use or clear anymore.
grass grow on useless place.
But sure, i do not mean this when i gave it to my friend.
It just has a funny look.

New Product: Hot Mocha anywhere and anytime

This is a interesting product i found in Dissmore Iga.
Hot Mocha that you can get a hot coffee anywhere and anytime.
just push one button and shake it for few seconds,
then you can get a hot drink after 3 mins,
without boiling water.
this technology should be used on cup noodle too,
so i can get a hot noodle in soup whenever and wherever i am.

pre: project of 4 panels

Another project in my painting class:
To paint on four square panels with the same image.
This is my chosen image of a train.
I like how the view of angle goes deeper and more details.

frame makes pictures

Many artists always provide frames around their finished artworks.
but what if a frame exists before an artworks was made?
i took the pictures and each had a piece of a frame.
all the views becomes an organized picture within the border of this frame.
a frame seem to have power to make a visual view become an artwork,
rather than an artwork itself.
and this idea of frame may be my idea of physical activity.

bears in light version

the final view i want to present my bears.
light source came out from the glue molds inside.
when the light hit on different layers of the glue,
it looks as a fancy lamb in kid style.
this is exactly what i want to decorate my room. =]
and now, the gummy bear is no more playing with big gummy mother,
but seeking the source of light.

1. chocolate version

when i lied to my friends that it made by chocolate,
they believed my lie.
it seems one material can successfully pretend into another material.

2. hot glue version

as i wanted the final one to be transparent,
so that the light can refracted through it,
then i decided to try the glue after discussing with my professors.
the product came out nice with the tactile texture beyond the light.
Also, the mixed purple glue came out as a transparent color too.

3/ 3 paintings

the last painting for my project of fruits.
i painted it with impression in umber brown scheme.
i like the way how these fruits get together with sort of emotional expression,
scared and lonely.

color study for painting class

this color study is to combine different colors,
and paint the combined results onto a piece of paper.
this is interesting to see the combination with warm colors and cold colors.
we can see no matter which warm mix with cold colors,
the result must to be a cold color too.
warm colors only will be produced with mixing of warm colors.

glowing gummy bears

i found this picture on the internet.
The gummy bears are illuminated thought their transparent bodies.
The light turn the gummy bear become a decoration.
i want to make the similar things to my recent mask project,
to turn the mask become an applied art rather than just a mask.
hope i could success to make a glowing mask.
